Review:  2.5

I’m definitely a fan of Rachel Caine because I love the Weather Warden and Outcast series. When I read the premise for Working Stiff, I was really excited! Due to past experience, I figured I would enjoy anything Rachel Caine writes… but I can’t say Working Stiff has been a great, entertaining read for me. This series would be fun to see on TV. The plot holes, passive heroine and inconsistencies can be hazed away on the screen because the viewers will be attuned to the action rather than needing to visualize the world, characters and feelings. I like Joe and Pat. I vaguely dislike Bryn. What does it say if I’m more intrigued with the summation of Bryn’s siblings than I am with what happens to Bryn? As the main character, Bryn doesn’t take a very active role in the book. She’s very passive and that makes me feel very ambivalent.

Will I read the next book? Sure! I have hopes of the story becoming more cohesive and engrossing. If it doesn’t? Well… that’ll suck.
