Description: How can a sexy marketing manager join forces with an Alpha Centauri male in Armani to save the planet-using hairspray, a Mont Blanc pen, and rock n’ roll?
She’s Touched by an Alien
Marketing manager Katherine “Kitty” Katt steps into the middle of what appears to be a domestic dispute turned ugly. And it only gets uglier when the man turns into a winged monster, straight out of a grade-Z horror movie, and goes on a killing spree. Though Kitty should probably run away, she springs into action to take the monster down.
In the middle of the chaos a handsome hunk named Jeff Martini appears, sent by the “agency” to perform crowd control. He’s Kitty’s kind of guy, no matter what planet he’s from. And from now on, for Kitty, things are going to be sexy, dangerous, wild, and out of this world.
Review: I decided to take a slightly different approach to my review for this book. I had a lot of fun reading it and wanted to write a review without any spoilers. Here’s the breakdown:
- Part 1 – My impression of Gini Koch’s brainstorming process for creating the Triple K series.
- Part 2 – A brief blurb about the story, a few character descriptions & thoughts.
I’m going to pretend I’m the author Gini Koch and here’s my brainstorming process for the K. Katt series:
How do I get a superhero, hunky boyfriend that’s a god in bed and it’s okay?
Who wants fugly aliens? Not me!
MY aliens are going to be hot hot HOT! Doesn’t matter which gender. They’re gonna be beautiful with a capital B!
Not only are they going to rock it on the physical plane, they’re going to be smart, compassionate and totally attracted to brains and personality. When everyone looks good, who cares about looks? Right? RIGHT!
Can’t have a boring story. Hmmmmm… how am I going to spice it up? Not a lot of conflict with a bunch of nice guys and gals.
OH! I know! Let’s add a kickass heroine! Let’s have fun with this…
A-HAH! I have it: Katherine “Kitty” Katt ~ Unlikely heroine, spunky, non-linear thinking, tomboy extraordinaire who can dress nice if need be and one that’s genetically inclined to take chances to save others.
Good Aliens vs Bad Aliens
Bad guys, bad men, bad things, bad monsters, bad aliens, I hate snakes, slime is nasty. Who likes bat wings–nobody! Ugh! Huge ears are a nightmare! *shudder* Gray is neutral and safe. Classy waiters dress in white and black. It’s standard. Suits. Aramani? Gucci? Asian tailored made to go? Polo? Nah, too golf. No golf boys. Cabana boys! Wait–that’s a different story. OR maybe a substory-dream-fantasy-nightmare? Note for later…
Gotta have a few twists. Love triangle? Huh? Love? Who needs insta-crush? TOTALLY unbelievable. Well but if he’s a nice guy–oh yeah! Who’s gonna be Mr. Hunk? I mean, main squeeze. Er *scratches stuff out* I mean God in Bed! Yeah! That’s a great title! No one needs to know this part… Mwahahahah~

OKAY! I think I’m ready to roll!
The triple K series is about a quirky, forthright female who is blessed and cursed with the right genetics that lead her to be extraordinary in crazy situations. Meet Katherine “Kitty” Katt, the lead of triple K. I don’t know about you but I may have to kill my parents if they landed me with a name like that! It’s like asking to be punked immediately by all snark contenders and those who love to spout bad jokes and puns.
Right from the get go, Kitty jumps into the fray when she witnesses a man transforming into a monster and causing massive damage and death. Without thinking too hard, she runs in and wacks the fugly with a pen. Everyone knows that all writing tools can become deadly objects of death. Straight away, Kitty is taken in by a group of drool worthy men in official attire and whisked away to classified destinations. There ends the life Kitty has always known to be true and thus begins a new phase that totally rearranges her worldview. Nothing will ever be the same but that’s okay because it’s definitely become much more interesting!
Let’s meet some of the characters:
Sol: Kitty’s Dad is super eco-friendly, a professor, smart, devoted husband and totally growly Pop to all potential boyfriends of his only daughter.
Angela: If you want to know where Kitty’s crazy comes from, you’re at the right place. It may be safe to say her mom’s genes are a bit more dominant in the mix. She’s super mom! Not to spoil anything but she can shoot like a pro. You’ll find out why. Most of it is classified.
Reader: An ex-cover model that’s become a part of the secret group to defend earth against invaders. He quickly becomes a friend that Kitty can count on.
Martini: One of the leaders of Alpha Centauri, strong empath and contender for Kitty’s heart. It’s a standard for Martini to ask Kitty for her hand in marriage. You’ll see. =P
Christopher: Martini’s best friend, cousin, one of the strongest imagers, another leader of Alpha Centauri and a royal pain in Kitty’s delicate behind. Why? Read the story to find out!
This book was chosen to be the Book of the Month for Girls, Guns, & Grimoires. I’ve never heard of this series before and this is the first book by Gini Koch that I’ve read. It’s a great book! I had a ton of fun reading the story and really enjoyed the characters, plot, snappy dialogue, action and the plot twists. It’s hard to pull the wool over my eyes. I enjoy it immensely when a story can surprise me or have me involved enough that I don’t foretell everything that’s going to happen.
I now have a new book on my list of favorites and a new author to hunt down and explore! Yay! I’m eager to see what else is in store for Kitty and the gang.
