Come on over! Find out about the people who make Silk Screen Views an awesome blog!

anime girl contemplating happily with a bookSoo the Instigator ~ Hello! I’m the creator of Silk Screen Views. I fell in love with books in 5th grade. Our class had a year long reading contest that awarded readers each month. That is the year I became a bookworm and a lover of writing. When people ask me what I do, I tell them that I’m a Jack of All Skills. I love to learn and soak up new information like a sponge. I used to be one of those people who always has a book on hand no matter where I go. Now, you can find me with either a book or my smartphone. I love my smartphone! I read on it all the time. Over time, I’m sure you’ll find out about my other passions and interests. I look forward to sharing them with you.

Books:  The majority of the books I read are fictional, and most of my favorite books are Adventure Fantasy. I also love Science Fiction, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Classics and Romance. I’ve read a ton of Erotica but I don’t have as many favorite novels in that genre. It is my guilty pleasure and my go to genre for a fast, fun read.

Darth Val (Valerie) ~ A geek to my very core, I began my love affair with books pretty much at birth. As an adult, I’m glad that I no longeramagami_ayatsuji_tsukasa_girls_brunettes_book_room_reading_41826_1483x1186 have to hide novels inside my textbook to fool my teachers. Plus, I have discovered a fringe benefit of digital book technology! It has the ability to hide certain blush-inducing book covers from the public at large. Maybe I’m not quite so grown-up after all.

Books:  I like to keep my literary options open and I refuse to commit to any one genre. However, I do have to admit to having a strong bias toward Action/Adventure fiction including: Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Suspense, Thrillers, Mysteries, and Historical Fiction. Given the right subject matter, I also enjoy Non-Fiction from time to time

sonja2-cropSnarktastic Sonja ~ I started reading in the 8th grade. I had an extended illness that left me bored to tears at home. There were only 5 TV channels! So, I picked up my older sister’s romance novels and set sail on adventures around the world. Since then, my reading has been largely influenced by the path my life is taking at the time. I have jumped genre to genre from Romance to Spy Thrillers, Mysteries, Fantasy and Science Fiction. As a math person born to an English teacher, I have tormented my mother for decades about what classifies as ‘literature.’

Books:  I like to get emotionally attached to the characters in the books. I do not mind a bit of a love story, but shy away from romances. I particularly enjoy a fast moving, snarky hero(ine) that makes me laugh out loud. Currently, I find myself reading mostly Science Fiction and Fantasy novels that have little basis in reality. I tend to stay away from Urban Fantasies and Paranormal Romance stories that are set in present times as they are just too darn close to reality! However, that is hard to do and I’ve found some mighty entertaining novels in a variety of genres! Therefore, I do not care to limit myself by categories. I read what fits my mood.

Irate Izzy ~  I’m a former public school teacher of the arts and I am here to rail about the man, pop culture and rei-kira-bikebooks. What am I like? Well, if you can throw together the following characters, you have a decent idea of who I am: Kira from Mars, Winry Rockbell from Full Metal Alchemist, Jan Di from Boys Over Flowers the K-Drama, Hanna from the movie Hanna & a part of all of the Goddesses in Oh! My Goddess. No, this does not mean that I’m schizo. I’m just special and unique individual. I read almost all of Christopher Pike’s books in middle school because I didn’t have a social life. Once I outgrew the awkward teens by developing boobs and curves, I got a life and stopped reading as much for fun. Now, I’m here to show of my verbal guns and shoot off topics with a deadly aim!

Books:  I prefer audio books because I used to drive a lot for work and play. My favorite audio books are Jasper Fforde’s Thursday Next and Harry Potter series. I enjoy reading Fantasy, Sci-Fi and Paranormal Romance. I tend to lean towards stories involving magic, time traveling super literary agents, and hot vampires that want to suck your blood. Yes, please!
